Q&A with KuTTy: The War on Iraq, have we made progress?

I have serious issues when it comes to The War on Iraq like everybody else, especially because someone I know was a casuality. It’s hard to think of the tons of young men and women fresh out of high school that didn’t realize the full parameters of war that are now no longer with us. Progress is hard to rate with the economic crisis blinding our eyes, but we cannot forget that Iraq now how has a democratic government which at least restores their basic human right to choose their country’s leader. Although we still have troops with future deploy dates, I have no choice but to be fully confident that our leaders- President Obama and Vice-President Biden will execute “Project Cleanup” in the way that Americans will be able to look back and really appreciate the benefits of their decisions. So I don’t know if we have made progress, but I do believe that we are in the process of making progress.

Random Thought: I Love Spinach!

Popeye the Sailor

The other day I awoke from a short nap and walked into my living room and found a few of my friends catching up on TV. Cool! It was a Sunday evening, by the way- there was no Sunday dinner on the stove, I was craving spinach and the scent of fried chicken permeated the air. After thoroughly searching the fridge, microwave and the oven for chicken, I found NOTHING but came across a number of food boxes from Popeye’s. This chicken & biscuit restaurant chain is a prime food staple in any Brooklyn hood, and I appreciate the fact that the one near my crib stays open into the wee hours of the morning. And while I try my hardest not to consume too much fast food, I couldn’t help but crave Popeye’s this particular day. Here’s my problem: while many of us grew up loving Popeye’s- the fast food chain & Popeye- the singing Sailor-man, don’t you find it odd that you can’t buy spinach at Popeye’s? …I’m serious, don’t laugh.

Let Your Soul Glow

It’s Monday- yes again, and the BKBOYEEZ are back with some HEALTH&BEAUTY tips to promote you being the best you! We have already touched on getting and keeping healthy skin, vitamins for healthy body function, and naturally brightening our smiles. This week keeping it about health from the neck up, we have tips for getting your hair in tip-top shape. As with most things pertaining to a healthy, functioning body- a well balanced diet is a great first step to promoting healthy hair. By adding more protein (soy, lean meats, nuts, yogurt, eggs, and fish), one daily vitamin (containing any of the following: biotin, zinc, B-6, folic acid, magnesium, and sulfur beta-carotene), and also cutting back on smoking, caffeine, fats and sugar puts you well on your way to letting your “Soul Glow”. Of course avoiding overprocessing and using generic shampoos/conditioners containing “ammonium laurel sulfate” or “silicon” on your hair can leave it dry, brittle and damaged. So try some of these tips for a healthy, shiny mane.

Be blessed… KuTTy
