We’re back with this month’s featured artist: Kayla Bliss. If you tuned in yesterday, you would have known that she’s easily the next BEST songwriter coming out of Brooklyn, but we want YOU to be the judge! Ride with us as we journey with her down the Roads to Bliss. Sounds euphoric, dontcha think? …Not sure what that means? Well look it up- and look HER up while you’re at it!

Kayla Bliss’ debut album- Roads to Bliss, is exactly what the title projects. From the time we hit play on the stereo- it felt as if we were instantly taken out of Brooklyn and teleported onto a tropical island touched by soft breezes and irie vibes. If you listen really closely we’re sure you’ll notice how much her sultry tones instantly drew you into the stories she told. As you run through the tracks, you’ll also learn some of the many facets of Kayla Bliss. On the reggae tune “Hear My Cry,” she sheds light on the epidemic that has continued to plague single woman worldwide- regardless of their age or ethnic background. She sings of the struggle a young 18 year old girl endures as she tries to better herself, raise a child, and deal with an absentee father. Not only is it a great message song of encouragement for women who are living this life, but it also teaches young girls about the ill reality of teen pregnancy and the life situations they should avoid at all costs. On the percussion-driven banger- “Used to Like You,” we meet another side of Kayla Bliss- the woman who’s confident, but is totally annoyed with her dead end relationship that must be cut loose! On this track, Kayla Bliss looks back at this relationship gone sour and has finally had an epiphany- he’s “triflin’” and she’s better off without him! As much as it sounds like blatant man-bashing, it’s totally necessary for the passion-driven women out there who tend to ignore all of the obvious signs simply because they’re blinded by love. We’re happy Kayla Bliss is that artist who can set ‘em straight- down the road to bliss and not down a road of misery. But don’t get me wrong- all of the songs on Roads to Bliss aren’t totally against men and relationships. If that were the case, the BKBOYEEZ wouldn’t be able to stomach it! With that said, our all-time favorite track- “Everything & Anything” is the ultimate love song. It’s the type of tune you’ll want to be rockin’ to with your shortie as you sip on a Guinness at a basement party. It’s on this track where we meet the sensitive side of Kayla Bliss- the all or nothing, loving yet submissive woman who’s not afraid to come “across too bold” or “speak [her] mind when [she’s] got something to say”. We love her strength and courage on this one, and we hope it influences and inspires anyone listening to it. The album is definitely one that can be played at home, in your car or in any chill setting- and we’re glad we got our hands on it!
If you want to cop this album you can find her on iTunes, but if you wanted a quick first listen to Roads to Bliss, check here. Tune in tomorrow as we’ll feature a one-on-one with Kayla Bliss as well as a special treat off of this new album.
