Random Thought: I am Ashamed!

In the year 2009 I cannot believe that some people in Brooklyn still do not know how to tip when they eat out. If you are eating a meal that totals $20 including tax, the proper tip amount is the at least 18 percent of that amount, which is $3.60 (and that’s if the service received is just alright.) If you get satisfactory to superb service then your tip should reflect that. If you feel that even after you have received great service that $3 is a sufficient amount, then I suggest you go to your local market, take the money you were going to spend on that meal, buy groceries, cook and serve yourself. Servers only make about $4 an hour; their whole income is basically based off of tips. So if you are one of these people I am writing about or have friends and family that might carry out some of these actions PLEASE educate them before an angry server who is $3 short on rent because of only getting a $2 tip goes APE SH!T

Q&A with KuTTy: Do you believe the U.S. should have an open door policy toward immigration?

I am a product of immigrant migration (along with probably half the population of these United States) and I know most of what it took for my mother to get here, so to say open door policy is a stretch. The land of opportunity, where the streets are paved with gold has to protect at least the idea of it. If the United States was made accessible to everyone, then the country would lose its prestige and exclusivity. As a place that was once built on the promise of freedom, we believe that our idealogies are automatically welcomed by the world and clearly with the events stemming from the tradegy of 9/11 there are people out there that strongly disagree. Those people should not be given access to our most treasured possesion, our freedom. If you have not guessed it by now-  I say “No” to the open door policy and “Yes” to people looking for a life filled with opportunity.
