When I’m bored, there’s only one thing I can ALWAYS do and that’s EAT! It was a Thursday evening, I was twiddlin’ my thumbs in the crib, when my Boyee Rick called me from his NEW ride. Excited for him but hungry as hell, I suggested we go for a spin to get some food and he agreed (…the Power of Persuasion can be a great asset, huh!?) We cruised into Park Slope, Brooklyn to this Moroccan spot he heard about earlier in the week called Babouche Restaurant & Lounge. As we approached the entranceway, we were quickly guided to our table to peruse the menu which consisted of authenic Moroccan dishes with a contemporary French flair. While I’m not a huge fan of either cuisine, I decided to keep it simple as the prices were kind of up there, I wasn’t down for any surprises and as stated earlier- I was starving! Don’t get me wrong- I’m not opposed to trying new things but in times like these when dining out happens less frequently, it’s crucial to make wise decisions in terms of what you’re eating to avoid leaving any restaurant unsatisfied. With that said, I ordered the Saumon Grille and a CabSau (that’s Cabernet Sauvignon- if you didn’t know) and my Boyee Rick had the same wine as well as the Steak Au Poivre.

I was heading to lunch Tuesday to meet my boy D, mouth watering for the salmon burger that I so had my heart set on only to find the lunch spot closed. An alternative place was suggested and I could not believe that of all places D wanted to go to Buffalo Wild Wings (gasp). Once I got over myself and remembered that he was treating I was with it. In my experience in chain restaurants similar to BWW, the service is usually lackluster and the clientele is parallel to that. To my surprise the service was great. Not only was our waiter attentive he was friendly and that’s so hard to find these days. It was just our luck that it was 40 cent wing Tuesday, which to me sounded like the best deal ever. If you know anything about BWW you know it’s all about the sauces. With a choice of 14 sauces to choose from, it could easily turn into an all day event. You can find a Buffalo Wild Wings in your neighborhood by logging onto their interactive website. You can also preview their menus, get daily specials, order from the gift shop and participate in promotional games. I definitely give it two thumbs up and already put all my friends on so we will def be up in there next Tuesday.
Stay up and catch my swag

BKBOYEEZ are back with great EATS. Almost every weekend since the Spring season started its been really rainy, so here is a great recipe for a rainy night with friends or that special someone. Grab a movie, catch up on your TiVo’d or DVR’d shows from the week, or have some great conversation- but do it with this snack.
Ingredients: 2/3 of a cup of pop corn kernels, 3 table spoons of vegetable oil, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and butter.
First pop your kernels as directed by heating oil in a deep pan until you can put one kernel in and it pops immediately then put the rest of the pop corn kernels in and cover. DON’T leave it on the fire you have to shake the pot around as it gets to poppin’ until you do not hear anymore pops. Get your butter and put your seasonings on them and microwave for about 15 seconds. Pour over popped kernels, cover and shake it …shake it ..shake it. Easy!

It’s Sunday, and I’m back with your BKBOYEEZ Eats recipe for your tasting pleasure. We started with a healthy nutty breakfast, then an easy but impressive snack, and now what else but a slammin’ entree to finish up the month. I introduce to you, my “Indoor Grilled Chili BBQ Chicken”.
Ingredients: Chicken (leg, thigh, and breast parts works best), chili powder, black pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, paprika powder, garlic powder, all purpose seasoning, your favorite teriyaki sauce, a pre-made onion vinergarette (found in your local super market), your favorite store bought BBQ sauce, brown sugar, a lemon, pimento seeds and your favorite marinara sauce.
First make sure your chicken is clean (I usually rinse my chicken with vinegar or lemon juice). Then season your chicken with black pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, paprika powder, garlic powder, all purpose seasoning, the juice of a lemon, teriyaki sauce, and the onion vinegarette. Let that marinate for about an hour along with the pimento seeds (about 6). Mix in a sauce pan about 2 cups of the marinara sauce, 1 ½ cups of the BBQ sauce, about ¼ cup of brown sugar, about 3 dashes of chilli powder, and bring to a slow simmer. Now here is how we achieve that grilled taste we all love- if you do not have a stove top grill, a George Foreman grill or an electric griddle, you can definitely use a cast iron pan. Heat your grill or pan to high heat and place your chicken on the grill or pan until you see charred marks or until chicken is about half cooked. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, place the chili BBQ sauce (reserve about ¼ of the sauce) over the chicken and place the chicken in the oven covered for about 20 minutes. Then uncover the chicken, brush on the rest of the chili BBQ sauce, and place back in the oven for about 10 minutes. You’re done and I’m pretty sure you can figure out the rest. Enjoy!

Yo! It’s Restaurant Week in Brooklyn which means you can dine at participating restaurants throughout Brooklyn for only $23. I know we’re in the middle of a recession and dining out doesn’t happen as often as you’d like, but you’d be a fool not to get up on this offer! For $23 you’ll experience a three-course meal that would probably run you upward of $60 and you haven’t even had anything to drink as yet. Click on our “Visit Brooklyn!” link on the right-hand site of our page to find a listing of participating restaurants and more details, so you can’t say we never told you! It began on March 23rd and will be over on April 2nd, so jump on it.

NYC is a great outlet for spontaneity and casual dining, but the difficulty in that is, you can’t always get the best for your hard-earned bucks. Well, look no further! Submerged in the borough of Brooklyn’s trendy “hipster” community called Williamsburg, you can find the jewel known to locals as SEA. This hidden treasure boasts of having some of the best Thai food in the borough and if you reside in BK, you don’t even have to cross the Williamsburg, Manhattan, or Brooklyn Bridge to get there. Approaching the corner of North 6th & Berry Sts., one might find it out of the ordinary to hear House music blaring from the inside of the restaurant. Not us! Instead, it reassured us that we were at the right place. Note to Reader: This vibe, however, might seem a little unusual for older patrons who enjoy a more traditional or formal dining experience where the background music is played at a moderate volume. Another setback that might annoy some patrons is the mere fact of having to wait for a table. SEA can get very busy- especially on the weekends; surprisingly, we didn’t have to wait for a table and were quickly taken to one alongside the large, reflecting pool conveniently housed in the middle of the dining room. Yeah, that’s right… its a small pool with a huge Buddha statue in the center. Nice touch to say the least!

Snacks! We all love them, but we hate the addictiveness of them. Here is an alternative that is quick and easy in which you can totally control the content and make it your own.
Ingredients: 2 Torillas, olive oil, crushed sea salt, black pepper
First preheat oven to 350 dregees, then brush your torillas with olive oil. Cut your torilla into 16th and sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper. Place in oven and watch for about 10 minutes until torillas get golden and crisp. Great for impressing friends!(I mean, how many people do you know that make their own chips?)

So, St. Patrick’s Day is around the corner, and you’ve been considering having a few friends over for some drinks. You’re probably broke after spending your last on clothes you saw in our Spring Fashion Guide this week, or you might just want to keep it local and not spend countless hours getting hammered in some Irish pub among total strangers. In honor of St. Patty’s Day and the whole GREEN thing, here are some fun & easy alcoholic beverages you can serve your friends. The BKBOYEEZ are FIRM BELIEVERS in drinking responsibly, so if you’re under 21- don’t go rummaging thru your parents liquor cabinet. Underage drinking is not cool; your day will come soon! If you’re old enough, try these out and let me know how your shinding with your friends was or how YOU spent your St. Patty’s Day weekend. Cheers!

APPLE MARTINI:
Ingredients: 2 oz. of vodka, 3/4 oz. of apple schnapps, cocktail shaker, martini glass, ice.
Add ice to the shaker.
Pour 2 oz. of vodka & 3/4 oz. of apple schnapps into the shaker.
Shake thoroughly.
Pour mixture into martini glass and garnish with an apple wedge, if desired.
SUBSTITUTE: If your guest is a lightweight and can’t hold their liquor as well as you can, then make their Apple Martini sweeter. Add 1 oz. of apple juice for 1 oz. of vodka.
SUBSTITUTE: If you’d prefer your Apple Martini on the sour side, add 1 oz. of ginger ale and a splash of lemon juice for 1 oz. of vodka.

GREEN BEER:
Ingredients: 12 oz. of a light color beer (the lighter the better- i.e. Corona), green food coloring OR blue Curacao Liqueur, drinking glass or mug.

INCREDIBLE HULK:
*DISCLAIMER: Please drink responsibly. Don’t drink & drive!

As we all should know or have been told numerous times, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I mean, have you ever noticed how your body reacts after running on just coffee or the sweet pastries sold on almost every corner in New York City? Well here is an alternative to the everyday coffee roll that’s simple, satisfies your need for sweets and gives you the protein boost needed to start your day off right.
Ingredients:
1 box of Aunt Jemima Whole Wheat Pancake/Waffle mix
2 eggs
Milk (butter milk, low-fat, or soy milk can also be used)
Butter /Oil
Baking powder
Vanilla extract
Your favorite nuts (chopped up small)
Now let’s do this:
First mix 1 cup of the Aunt Jemima Whole Wheat Pancake/Waffle mix and a ½ teaspoon of baking powder. Take 1 cup of your milk and add 1 teaspoon of the vanilla extract. Then beat only the white of the eggs until peaks can be formed. Add the milk/vanilla mixture and a tablespoon of your oil or melted butter to the dry mix. Blend together until lumps appear smaller and more disbursed. Gently fold the egg whites in the mixture. DO NOT OVER MIX. Preheat griddle/pan /waffle iron. Pour mixture on hot surface (try to use a measuring cup for more even size pancakes/waffles). Sprinkle crushed nuts to the exposed side of your hot cake at your discretion. Flip pancakes when many bubbles appear on topside. Cook waffles until steam stops rising out of the waffle or until timer goes off.
Serve with your favorite topping.
Be Blessed…….KuTTy

I promised a friend we’d go out for a late lunch and since we were in Chelsea we decided on Maroons located at 244 West 16th Street. Walking down a block full of beautifully preserved brownstones & storefront window displays, we arrived to the quaint spot and were quickly taken to our table. The decor was very minimal with the exception of the row of exquisite paintings adorning the exposed brick walls in the dining room. We browsed the menu and were excited to indulge in the Southern and Jamaican cuisine this spot boasts of. To avoid gluttony & wasted time being indecisive, we decided on a smorgasbord of appetizers including Baby Back Ribs, Garlic Shrimp, Mango Shrimp, Fried Catfish Fingers, Cod Fish Fritters, Crispy Yucca Puffs, and of course, their signature Macaroni & Three Cheeses.
