As a youngin’ I always heard the phrase “Black don’t Crack”- well I am here to inform you for the most part the statement is true, but it’s not the the “black” parts of our skin that people of color have to worry about. Since the Summer has begun a lot of my friends have been going tanning to enhance the richness of their beautiful natural brown complexion without wearing some form of sunscreen. Totally dangerous people! Although it is rare that a person of color will get a cancerous growth on the darker parts of their skin, the palm side of the hand, bottom of the feet, and periungial (the area around your fingernails and toenails) are high risk areas for skin cancer. So when you’re laying out on the beach, please do yourself a favor and protect yourself with anyone of the SPF’s (if your going in the water they have waterproof sunscreens available, too). Skin cancer is real, even for us!

Yo, this weather has been crazy! I don’t know what Mother Nature is going through… Well actually, I do know. We’ve been consistently destroying our ozone layer, but I digress. We got a piece of summer sun last week, and I believe it caught a lot of us off guard. I was hot as hell! In the event summer wants to swing by again, here are a few ways to beat the summer heat and avoid unflattering beads of perspiration that we pretend people can’t really see.

What’s up with this weather?!?!? Every time it’s just about to feel like Summer’s around to stay- BAM! the clouds come out and fool us all. While I’m sure you’re tired of carrying around your umbrellas during what’s supposed to be “the summer”- here’s a few tips to get you thru those sweltering, hazy Summer days without feeling as though you’re about to fall out.

F.Y.I.: Did you know an average of 400 people in the U.S. die every year as aresult of extreme heat? Sounds crazy, but it’s true. Don’t be a statistic!

What up people! Hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather we’ve been having. The sun always puts me in a good mood and because I’m feeling so good, I’m gonna give all of our BKB’z & BKG’z a 2 for 1 beauty special. We all hate getting pimples, and they always come at the worst times. Well we are giving you a quick and easy way to diminish the size and appearance of those unsightly bumps. Speaking of unsightly, ladies we all know Summertime means shaving regularly. I KNOW it’s a drag, but someone’s gotta do it. Here’s a way to get a clean smooth shave in a hurry. Enjoy!
How to Shrink Zits Overnight
Place the end of a cotton swab in hot water, and gently touch against the head of the pimples for three seconds. The heat will help open up the zit and draw the gunk to the surface so the topical ingredients you apply will work better.
How to Shave Your Legs In A Hurry
Lather your legs with a creamy body wash, then shave with a five blade razor. You will only need to make one pass.
Stay up and catch my swag.

So as the last installment to our guide to the health side of sex I KuTTy am going to give you the secret to GREAT sex: Sleep. Yes, sleep. Being well rested can help both men and women control the direction in which they want their intimate experience to go. Also with energy levels on high you have more time to try and experiment with new ways to heighten your sexual experience. This to me adds up to a much better experience than trying to knock something out really quickly and crashing towards the end. But the best reason for making sure you are fully caught up on your Z’s is that your recovery time after the big O is a lot quicker which means, oh yes, you can go on and on til’ the break of dawn( I know corny). So get some rest and try again in the morning.

There’s more reasons to having sex than going “half on a baby” despite what R. Kelly says. In fact, the mere act of participating in sexual intercourse benefits all parties (depending on how freaky you might be), and if you’re in a situation where you aren’t reaping the benefits- someone’s not doing it right. Now I’m not a sex doctor, nor am I a sex therapist but I do know everyone benefits from sex. Here’s 4 reason how:
Sex increases your blood flow. If you’re getting it in during sex, your blood should be boiling! It normally goes down like this: Considering you’re with the “right person” (doesn’t necessarily have to be wifey or hubby…could be someone you recently met- just make sure you STRAP IT UP), but anyway, you’re doing the damn thing and you’re out of breath. Well, in the heat of the moment when your blood is pumping- it’s providing your slick body with much needed oxygen and by doing that, it’s actually cleaning your system in an effort to rid the body of old & wasteful products/toxins. See! Sex can be clean- it’s not as “dirty” as people make it out to be.

Now last week I put our BKB’z on to the need for control. There are many easy ways to excercise and practice to ensure maximum pleasure and stamina in the bedroom. You BKG’z out there who are looking for something new to spring on ya man- get into this! No it’s not some crazy new position or some kind of contraption that straps on and vibrates. There are actually some very simple pelvic muscle routines that you can do everyday. Kegel exercises increases you (and your partner’s) pleasure during intercourse and are beneficial to women regardless of age.
There are several benefits for a woman to exercise her vagina:
This will…
For your boyfriend, it will be a tremendous difference. You will get tighter. You can pull and squeeze your partner. You’ll have better sexual self-confidence. You’ll know that your present/future boyfriend/husband/lover won’t be disappointed. Men prefer women with a strong vagina. It’s more important that our lover have a strong vagina than a perfect body. In some cultures women exercise their vaginal strength in order to help them keep their future/present husband.

This month the BKBOYEEZ are getting grown & sexy with our most adult topics to date. Stamina plays a huge part in making private moments a success, or can be… well you know- a topic of laughable conversation with friends. Exercising consistently, especially cardio can aide in a more long-lasting, satisfying experience for all parties. A healthy diet is almost always the remedy for everything- especially foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, magnesium, zinc, and riboflavin. Also fresh fruits, vegetables, green tea and even dark chocolate can not only get you in the mood, but keep you in the mood. Try one or try them all, but the most important thing is that you stay in the game. If sex was a race, I’m sure you would want to lose.

Want a great body, but can’t commit to a gym membership? Or do you absolutely despise the gym altogether and would rather workout at home? If you answered YES to any of these questions, I’ve got a few solutions for you. Contrary to to the female perspective, Boyeez are simple when it comes to working out. We want to focus on our upper body (i.e. abs, chest, back & arms) while women, on the other hand tend to focus on the ENTIRE body which often leaves you Geerls overwhelmed and unmotivated. Don’t bite off more than you can chew! Ladies, I suggest working out the important parts that are pleasing to a man’s eyes (i.e. abs, arms, butt & legs). As complex as we might seem, we’re very simple beings and that’s probably why we gravitate toward fitness because fitness should be simple too! Try these exercises that both men & women can do at home to ensure our bodies are sittin’ by the summer.

I know everyone out there just like the BKBOYEEZ- are trying to get their bodies right for the Summer. For dudes, that may require losing or gaining the few default pounds from the Winter. It will most definitely involve muscling up, but what most guys may not know is that muscles aren’t built in the gym. They’re built later- when you’re resting. Believe it or not it’s true. While you’re chilling on the couch after a workout, your body is busy repairing and rebuilding the muscle tissue you’ve ripped while pumping iron. To get the most out of your muscle-rebuilding phase, give your muscles the fuel they need. A combination of creatine and whey partnered with a workout regimen produces leaner, stronger and larger muscles. After your next workout, try this muscle building shake that you can mix yourself.
ULTIMATE MUSCLE-BUILDING SHAKE
Ingredients:
1 cup of strawberries (fresh or frozen, but fresh is definitely better)
1/2 banana
1/2 cup of cranberry juice
3/4 cup of milk
1 cup of ice cubes
1 scoop of whey powder
1 scoop of creatine powder
Just blend these items together and enjoy this rejuvenating shake after your workout. Let me know how you like it.
Stay up and catch my swag.

So the Summer is getting closer by the day, and we are all running out of time to be “beach ready”. We guided you to balancing your diet, now here some are easy ways to balance your body.
Stretch: Stretching everyday increases blood flow and keeps your body ready to work out. Also, stretching can relieve everyday aches and pains.
Eliminate the elevator: If you have a choice, you should take the steps. Taking the steps keeps your heart rate up, tones your legs and keeps your behind lifted.
Walk: Walking has been scientifically proven to be a full body work out. With the weather being a little warmer lately, instead of taking the train/bus a couple of stops make a day out of it and walk to your destination. Make sure you give your self time and carry water.
Fitness doesn’t have to be hard.

We aren’t necessarily what we eat, but it’s the things we do eat that tend to emit different feelings within our body. For instance, ever notice how drained you feel after eating a cheeseburger and french fries? Sometimes you can blame it on the size of the portions, but other times- it’s just the food and ingredients used to prepare it that leave us feeling “full” and tired. Those were the good ‘ole winter days we spent nestled up at home, eating everything in sight out of sheer boredom. Now that we’ve come out of hibernation, it’s time to shed the pounds and reshape our bodies for the upcoming summer months. But before we do a single crunch or push up, we have to closely examine our eating habits- which means that most of us are going to have to restock our refridgerators and pantries with healthier food products. And as much as you think you’re allergic to ‘em- you’re not, so grow up! If you’re anything like me, you absolutely LOVE food and have an insatiable hunger for life, but in maintaining a nice physique, it’s the types of foods we consume that really make a difference. While we’re not encouraging “dieting”, instead we’d like to focus on consuming the foods that’ll produce long-term results and save you time and money from frequenting the doctor’s office.
So we’re Back to Basics. Remember the Food Pyramid introduced to us as kids? Well, if you were absent from school that day, here’s what you missed:

For most people when it comes to hair, deciding what to do with it is a major undertaking and the decision to go natural is life altering. Maintaining natural hair doesn’t have to be hard. There are many all natural techniques out there that can help keep your locks and afros on point. I have compiled a list of recipes that will show you how to create your own hair care regimen right in your own kitchen.
Avocado Conditioner
Ingredients: 1 small jar of mayonnaise, 1/2 avocado
Directions: Peel avocado and remove the pit. Mix all ingredients in a medium-sized bowl with your hands until it’s a consistent green color. Smooth into hair being careful to work it through to the ends. Use shower cap or plastic wrap to seal body heat in. Leave on hair for 20 minutes. For deeper conditioning wrap a hot, damp towel around your head over the plastic, or use a hair dryer set to a low to medium heat.
Rosemary Hot Oil Treament
Ingredients: 1/2 cup of dried rosemary leaves, 1/2 cup soybean oil
Directions: Combine ingredients and heat until warm. Strain through a fine strainer or cheesecloth. Coat the entire head and hair with the oil mixture, working it through to the ends. Wrap hair in plastic wrap then wrap in a warm towel. Leave oil on hair for 15 minutes. Wash hair until oil is completely removed.
Ginger Dandruff Treatment
Ingredients: Ginger root, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Directions: Squeeze ginger root through press to obtain one tablespoon of juice. Mix all ingredients. Apply to scalp and let dry before shampooing. Repeat three times a week.
Natural Hair Gel
Ingredients: 1/2 to 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
Directions: Thoroughly dissolve gelatin in 1 cup warm water. Keep refrigerated in sealed container.
Frizz Control for Curly Hair
Ingredients: 1 small aloe vera leaf
Directions: Snip off end of leaf and apply a dollop of aloe vera gel to palm. Work through hair to ends.

It’s Monday- yes again, and the BKBOYEEZ are back with some HEALTH&BEAUTY tips to promote you being the best you! We have already touched on getting and keeping healthy skin, vitamins for healthy body function, and naturally brightening our smiles. This week keeping it about health from the neck up, we have tips for getting your hair in tip-top shape. As with most things pertaining to a healthy, functioning body- a well balanced diet is a great first step to promoting healthy hair. By adding more protein (soy, lean meats, nuts, yogurt, eggs, and fish), one daily vitamin (containing any of the following: biotin, zinc, B-6, folic acid, magnesium, and sulfur beta-carotene), and also cutting back on smoking, caffeine, fats and sugar puts you well on your way to letting your “Soul Glow”. Of course avoiding overprocessing and using generic shampoos/conditioners containing “ammonium laurel sulfate” or “silicon” on your hair can leave it dry, brittle and damaged. So try some of these tips for a healthy, shiny mane.

Keeping up appearances? This month we’ve chosen the face to pamper with a little TLC. We tackled breakouts head on and finally took Mom’s advice and started taking vitamins- particularly the ones that help fight acne from within. Now you have a clean face and clear mind, it’s time to zero-in on the pearly whites. Though they might not be as white as you once remembered them, factor in- you aren’t 6 anymore nor did you smoke cigarettes or drink coffee to cope with life back then either. It’s one of the ugly side effects of getting older and being that we’ve become a society afraid of aging- all too often do we take the dental shortcut. I know if you could you’d consider porcelain veneers or “TV teeth” as I affectionately call them, but they can set you back a few months rent. While some of our favorite celebrities including Vivica A. Fox, Big Boi from Outkast, Keyshia Cole and 50 Cent can afford to casually splurge to receive an instantly gratifying smile, you’re not them. That doesn’t mean you can’t rock a bright smile of your own though. Using everyday household products, here’s how to get your Kool-Aid smile back. Read the rest of this entry »

We have all heard the term “step ya game up” in reference to cars, money and clothes. How many of us need to step our vitamin game up? Taking vitamins on a daily basis can not only help in prolonging your energy, fighting off colds, but most importantly, can enhance the way you look. With spring at our doorstep, here are some tips to make sure your skin stays healthy.
Vitamin C- Has anti-oxidant properties that fight against free radicals that contribute to different symptoms associated with aging, sun exposure, pollution and cigarette smoke. These inhibit the production of collagen.
Vitamin B2- Signs of a B2 deficiency are brown pigments or liver spots, fat deposits behind ears and cheeks as well as oily skin.
Option 1. Hit up your local pharmacy. You can find these vitamins in pill/ liquid form.
Option 2. Do it the natural way like our grandparents did. Add more fruit and vegetables to your daily diet. Citrus fruits (i.e strawberries, kiwis and cantaloupes) show the most affect over time.
Now I strongly believe in the mantra “black don’t crack,”and I plan to keep it that way. Be sure to read your labels carefully. Sometimes the generic brands are as good as the name brands. Don’t get got.
Stay up and catch my swagg…
