A true sneaker fanatic has all of the classics in his/her closet and the collection wouldn’t be complete without the Nike Blazer! For those of you who might be in the dark about this one, bear with me as I shed some light on the Blazer- as it’s often confused with the Nike Dunk. Coming onto the scene in the early ’70s as just another basketball sneaker, the Nike Blazer can easily be recognized by it’s larger-than-normal, trademark Nike swoosh and rubbersole bottoms. Apparently, the folks over at Nike needed a pair of kicks that would stand apart from the others and that it did! Over four decades later, you can’t walk the streets of NYC without seeing at least ONE person sportin’ a pair of Blazers. They’re custom made in canvas, leather, suede, animal print and an array of other vibrant colors. The hightop sneaker is all the rage nowadays and can be perfectly paired with denim jeans and a casual tee, shorts and a wifebeater, or some slacks and a buttondown. They’re just crucial to any wardrobe. Now I’m not telling you to go out an buy a pair (because a brotha knows times are hard!), but all I’m sayin’ is your collection will NEVER be complete without a pair of Blazers in the mix! Trust me.

We’re at the last installment of our GRACE Hats feature. Over the past month we’ve been having a blast with these stylish hats, and this week’s model- Marcia, make this particular shoot a hell of a lot easier. Our boy, FaBid dressed her up, dressed her down and boy, did she deliver! We’re back again with more GRACE Hats you should definitely get into this Summer. This time around we decided to show you how versatile they can be- depending on what they’re paired with. They can come in exceptionally handy on those casual Summer days, where you just want to feel comfortable and not overdone. In this particular shoot, we tried to showcase that relaxed style our model, Aurora, already possesses (when she’s not out in her chic & trendy ensembles we adore, of course). The creative energy has been flowing here at BKBOYEEZ.com, and we’re just tryna milk it, milk it, milk it! If you’ve been following us you’d know we recently featured graphic designer, Curtis “Fresh” Franklin- who’s Just Living The Dream, but always reppin’ BK hardbody! Inspired by his dope t-shirt line, Fashion Hurtz- the BKBOYEEZ decided to do a photoshoot. So we teamed up with Fresh, Mike Abraham (another up & coming photographer reppin’ AGM|newyork Photography), a few members of U.R.I., a couple models, and we left the rest to sheer impulse & inspiration. We loved the finished product, and we hope you do too. The t-shirts are off the chain, and you should definitely cop a few off ‘em (just tell Fresh the BKBOYEEZ sent ya!)

The BKBOYEEZ are hardcore KanYe fans- of his music and his sense of style. He’s got the Hip-Hop world in the palm of his hands, and now he’s about to do the same in the world of Fashion. Dubbed as the “Louis Vuitton Don”- it’s no wonder Louis V approved of the collabo to create a DOPE pair of sneakers alongside this fashion guru. Despite the lofty price (upward of $800), they’re a great casual pair of kicks and you can’t expect anything less from Ye or Louis. We love these joints, but aren’t too fond of the price- especially in this recession. Our words of advice: If you want to join the Louis V/Ye bandwagon, you have no choice but to get your coins up!

But guess what? One experience was not enough for KanYe. As one of the cockiest living legends in the music industry, you’d think teaming up with the world’s largest supplier of athletic shoes and apparel would be a far reach. But, it’s nothing short of a feeding frenzy for patiently waiting sneaker fanatics worldwide. With this recent collaboration spawns the highly-anticipated release of the Nike Air Yeezy- NIKE and Kanye West’s newest creation. Like all other sports athletes in the industry, Ye had to undergo the complete process of creating his own sneaker design in the Nike lab. It’s refreshing to see how Nike has stepped outside of the box and has brought in an entertainment artist to help create a fresh look- both Nike supporters and KanYe fans can rock and enjoy. But with a $215 price tag, will you cop a pair of your own or will you just admire them on others as they pound the pavement pass you?

The glare from the haters can be as bright as the sun rays. Here are a few blockers to help deflect those intense stares. As a bonus, I’m hittin’ you with some tips so you’ll know how to rock these dope styles.

• Cut-out details:
How to wear: If you’re a woman, wear these glasses with your hair up, as most cut-out details on glasses occur on the side arms. You don’t want your hair covering your glasses’ best feature.
• Cubic:
How to wear: Cubic eyewear is at its sensational best when paired with suits or edgy outfits. If these looks aren’t your style, then pair them with something plain white to really make the eyewear stand out.
• Oversized:
How to wear: Wear these glasses with anything you want – as long as it’s funky! These geek chic glasses are best worn to casual occasions and artsy affairs like film screenings, parties, lunches, museums and galleries.
• Retro-inspired:

This recession is killing me, but for all of the wrong reasons- particularly because I can’t afford to shop as often as I’d like to. I know it’s not responsible of me to buy a new pair of kicks every month anymore, so I’ve narrowed down my options to one per season. We’ll see how long I can commit to that as I truly believe, I have a sickness! But if you’re anything like me, you often fall victim to purchasing a new pair of sneakers or any type of footwear for that matter- just because they’re DOPE and you’d be a fool to leave them in the store. If you weren’t already up on it, let me put you on to SUPRA. I’m a fanatic for comfortable, stylish kicks that leave me salivating even before trying them on so you’ll probably need a bib for this high top collection. The colors are BOLD for the season and we all know, the perfect shoe/sneaker can make or break your ‘fit. These, my friends, speak for themselves!

As you all know we have been happily looking forward to Spring and the fashion fun that it brings. Bella Honey, one of our avid readers, introduced me to the term “RECESSIONISTA,” so all of you out there- this is for you! This concept came about from a conversation between myself and Dre. We were going through a bag of old clothes and we kept coming across some great pieces (much thanks to Auntie Bev!) I had a thought: do a shoot based on “old skool” meeting “new skool”. I created looks that consisted of at least one vintage piece that the look would be based on. Sorry guys, this is strictly for the ladies, but we got you. Promise. The process was CRAZY! The project was conceptualized on Wednesday (we chose potential looks, acquired models and prayed we could pull this off) and was executed on Thursday (we prayed some more, called models to make sure they were awake and prepping, endured a horrible taxi ordeal on the way to the shoot that I was already late for, prepped the clothes, did the model’s hair and makeup and styled the girls, while Dre set up lighting and finalized locations). Somehow we made it through the day and then had a night of choosing pics and editing. This is a long tedious process, but we hope the final product meets your approval. All of these looks were created from vintage finds and other pieces from the model’s wardrobes. No clothes were purchased for the shoot. Hopefully, this will inspire you to go through your closet and maybe hit up your grandmother’s while you’re at it before you head out to the stores this season.

In honor of St. Patricks’ Day, I want to holla at you with some green fashion. No, not the color green, but environmental green. As we all know, our ozone layer is gradually vanishing as we speak. What can you do to help GO GREEN? I’m not referring to anything drastic like becoming a vegan or using solar power in your home. I’m thinking on a smaller scale. You can GO GREEN at the mall. Next time you go shopping, look into items that contain all natural materials and dyes. It’s chic to be environmentally fashionable. Think about it. Next month, the BKBOYEEZ will be bringing you other ways to GO GREEN for our environment as well as ways to help improve your community.

I know, I know… you must be sick of looking at clothes by now, but the key to looking good is consistency! My boy FaBid gave you tops, bottoms and shoes earlier this week & KuTTy gave you accessories yesterday- now it’s my turn to bring you outwear. You must be thinking, it’s Spring- I don’t need a jacket, but let’s not PLAY ourselves. You can’t be cute with your nose running! Whether it’s a sports jacket, bomber jacket, denim jacket, trench coat or hoodie- make sure it’s lightweight and correlates with what you have on. But most importantly, make it YOU!
